What does Commitment mean?
Single patient rooms have become the industry standard throughout healthcare facilities in this country, and with good reason. It has been proven that private rooms reduce the potential for infection. Approximately two million hospital-acquired infections severely affect 100,000 patients a year. Single rooms also provide adequate space for families to visit and participate in the healing process while providing the privacy patients need during bedside treatments and sensitive discussions.
Milford Regional Medical Center’s 4th floor was partially comprised of four-person rooms, and was one of the oldest spaces still in existence at the hospital. With our bold vision, we transformed the 4th floor, and made it home to 15 private patient rooms, complete with the highest level of technology and comfort, for two of the most sensitive areas of patient care – oncology and palliative care. Patients and families in the throes of the most difficult and challenging times will experience comforting accommodations, peace, and the privacy they truly deserve in an environment conducive to healing.
The completion of the 4th floor renovation has been completes and marked the fulfillment of Milford Regional’s promise to convert the entire campus from multi-bed rooms to single patient rooms.
Through the Commitment Campaign, our many friends and family helped us raise the majority of the cost toward this vital renovation.
Anyone who has experienced the pain, uncertainty, and anxiety of a cancer diagnosis for a loved one, the resulting treatment, and the disquiet and ups and downs of recovery, knows the value of comfort, convenience, and the presence of loved ones. My husband was a victim of cancer, and the doctors and nurses at Milford Regional were heroic in their attempts to prolong his life. My family and I are indebted to them for their skill, perseverance, and beyond all, their compassion during a terrible time for us.An anonymous, grateful family member
